Editor’s Pick: Mara Brock Akil Collaborates With Agnes Baddoo…Again!

What: The second installment of a partnership between screenwriter and producer Mara Brock Akil and Agnes Baddoo, founder of the namesake leather goods brand, is here. Back for another round due to popular demand, the newly-released collaboration sees exclusively-made, consciously-crafted handbags and eye glass cases with leather that’s destined to age beautifully with you as you move through life with them by your side.

Who: Visually, Mara Brock Akil is a stylish force to be reckoned with, and behind the scenes, her prowess as a storyteller has been shaping television for almost three decades. Among her resume highlights, if you will, are creating Girlfriends, its spin-off The Game, Being Mary Jane, and producing Black Lightening. And yes, that was her stunning home that recently made the cover of Elle Decor. Meanwhile, stylist and designer Agnes Badoo is the founder and creative director of the California/NY-based label, which is inspired by Badoo’s pursuit of creating bags like one once carried by her mom.

Why: The collaboration speaks to two important efforts: reducing waste and increasing community. In the words of both women, “it’s rooted in the idea that a bag so classically designed can be used forever and that in and of itself is a sustainable model for luxury products.” Plus, proceeds from the “bag that gets better with use” will go towards The Writers’ Colony, Brock Akil’s endeavor on empowering up and coming writers. Only 27 bags were made—so better act fast too!

Where: inthelandofmara.com

How much: The Aged Sac 1 Natural Mini bag, $927, and the Aged Eyeglass Case, $175.
