Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling already has his sights set in The Fall Guy 2 following the release of the first outing earlier this month. Speaking to Fast Company recently, Gosling addressed the ending of The Fall Guy and whether a sequel is on the cards, with the actor revealing that they have already planned out what happens to his seasoned stuntman Colt Seavers and Emily Blunt’s director Jody Moreno after the credits roll.
“Oh yeah. We already – I mean, we love these characters so much that we wanted to know, just for ourselves, what happens to Colt and [Emily Blunt’s character] Jody after the movie ends? What’s the next phase for them? And we know exactly what it is. So hopefully the audience wants to know, too.”
Not only have they planned out what comes next, it sounds like The Fall Guy 2 has already been written, with Gosling adding that they know the story for the sequel “intimately.” Of course, as dictated by the merciless Hollywood system, The Fall Guy 2 happening all depends on the box office…
“The sequel sort of wrote itself. We already know [the story] intimately. We’re just hoping that people like this movie enough that we get to keep telling the story of these characters. We love them so much, and we love this world, and I feel confident that we can do it.”

Unfortunately, on that front, The Fall Guy 2 faces an uphill battle that perhaps only Colt Seavers can accomplish. Despite solid reviews, The Fall Guy has sadly grossed just $66 million worldwide against a production budget of around $130 million, falling below expectations. Meaning that The Fall Guy, much like The Nice Guys before it, could be another Ryan Gosling-led franchise-starter that never took off.
