The Los Angeles Rams released wide receiver Cooper Kupp on Wednesday after failing to find a trade partner, the team announced.
The Rams couldn’t find a team willing to give up compensation and take on the $20 million he’s due, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
At least three teams are interested in Kupp once he becomes a free agent, depending on the wideout’s salary expectations, reports NFL Network’s Peter Schrager.
The Dallas Cowboys aren’t currently one of those teams, a source told NFL Network’s Jane Slater.
Kupp recorded a rare receiving triple crown in 2021 as he led the NFL in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and touchdowns (16). He was also named Super Bowl MVP that season.
But the 31-year-old has struggled with injuries since. Kupp has missed time every subsequent season: eight games in 2022, five in 2023, and another five contests last year.
The veteran finished 2024 with 67 catches for 710 yards and six touchdowns.
The Rams added six-time Pro Bowl receiver Davante Adams in free agency to pair with their 2024 leading wideout, Puka Nacua.
