It’s The Golden Girls as you’ve never seen them before: as a Little People special edition collector’s set. Featuring all four of the ladies we know and love from the classic comedy series, the miniature figures stand just over 2.5 inches tall, each one designed to look just like their respective characters on the show. For the collectors, they also come in a display-friendly package featuring the house’s living room.
All of our favorites are present as a part of the set. We can see Estelle Getty’s Sophia Petrillo, Bea Arthur’s Dorothy Zbornak, Rue McClanahan’s Blanche Devereaux, and Betty White’s Rose Nylund. Even the facial expressions seem to perfectly encapsulate each of these characters. They’re in Little People form, but they’re still certainly very recognizable.

Created by Susan Harris, The Golden Girls ran for seven seasons between 1985-92. Set in Miami, the show follows a group of four older women sharing a home, delving into their relationships with each other and others. It was tremendously popular during its run, winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series on two occasions. Each of the stars also won an Emmy Award for their roles on the show.
There remains a very strong following for The Golden Girls in 2021. Along with merchandise like Golden Girls themed Little People toys, there have also been more realistically details action figures released by NECA. That’s not to mention a literal cruise for fans of The Golden Girls that has also set sail. There has also been a touring puppet show where puppet versions of the characters act out scenes from the sitcom live for audiences. Betty White has even joked about doing a remake.
“I’d want to do it. At 95, I’m sure they’d want me,” White told ABC News in 2017. She also spoke about how she was almost cast as Blanche instead of Rose, but as it turns out, White really felt more drawn to the Rose character. As White explains, “Yes, but then, all of a sudden, Rose came up and I loved her, because she was so innocent, but not the brightest nickel in the drawer, but she was fun to do.”
After all these years, the iconic comedy series also made its way to the big screen for the very first time. In September, Fathom Events hosted Forever Golden: A Celebration of The Golden Girls in theaters. The event featured five episodes from the show: “The Pilot,” “The Flu,” “The Way We Met,” “Ladies of the Evening,” and “Grab That Dough.” The event generated great interest amid the continued popularity of the legendary sitcom. Perhaps it might just be a matter of time before the series does get rebooted for real, but no new show could ever match the classic.
The Golden Girls special edition figure set is currently on sale. Meanwhile, there are other shows and movies that have been given the Little People treatment, including a set of four figures based on the comedy series The Office. The company has also promised similar collector’s sets to come. You can watch classic episodes of The Golden Girls on Hulu.
