Producer Kevin Wright recently revealed why they opted not to include a traditional post-credits scene in the Loki Season 2 finale. This decision was driven by their desire to offer viewers a self-contained narrative, one that didn’t rely on teaser scenes for future Marvel projects. By doing so, they aimed to provide a story with a sense of closure, ensuring that the season’s plot arcs and character developments reached a satisfying conclusion without the need for lingering cliffhangers.

“We didn’t write any [post-credits scenes], and we certainly didn’t shoot any. A lot of people want these things to feel like contained stories. I know some people like the bigger interconnectedness. I think that’s also sometimes becoming a hindrance to some of our stories. For us, it was story closed, that was it.”

In this climactic finale, Loki weaves the timeline branches into a structure resembling Yggdrasil, the mythical World Tree, and becomes the God of Stories and guardian of the multiverse. Tom Hiddleston believes it would be unwise to assume that Loki’s story has come to a definitive end. In a recent interview, he discussed the uncertainty surrounding Loki’s future in the MCU. Hiddleston revealed that on multiple occasions, he had bid farewell to the role, writing heartfelt messages to Marvel executives like Kevin Feige, only to receive warm responses welcoming him back anytime. This history of farewell and reunion has made Hiddleston cautious about definitively declaring the end of Loki’s saga, suggesting that it would be unwise to make such a conclusive statement at this point.

“It’s so hard because I’ll be completely honest with you, Brandon, I have at least twice in my life said goodbye. I’ve written to Kevin Feige and Louis de Esposito and Victoria Alonso and been like, ‘Thank you so much. It’s been like the role of a lifetime,’ and they’ve written notes back saying, ‘Come and see us anytime. You’re always part of the family. We’re always here. You’ve given us so much and tears have been shared.’ So I think I’d be unwise at this point to be conclusive about any of it.”

In the series, Jonathan Majors takes on the role of Victor Timely, a variant of Kang the Conqueror, another version of which appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Alongside him, Owen Wilson reprises his role as Mobius M. Mobius. The cast further includes Sophia Di Martino, who portrays Sylvie, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as the authoritative Time Variance Authority judge Ravonna Renslayer. Tara Strong lends her voice to the quirky character Miss Minutes and Ke Huy Quan portrays the character OB.
