Julia Butters’s Floral Dress at Palm Springs Film Festival

Florals in Palm Springs? Actually kinda groundbreaking. Julia Butters attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Jan. 5 wearing a striking pink-and-black floral gown from Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini. The look was styled by Enrique Melendez, and paired with ladylike accessories, like a pair of black velvet opera gloves.

Philosophy collections are full of bright patterns, and this Flower Bloom dress from the brand’s resort 2023 collection is no exception. The fuchsia dress features a black floral print with a subtle silver sheen, which appears throughout the garment thanks to radzmir, the luxurious silk used. The silhouette, meanwhile, seems to be inspired by the classic dresses of the 1950s. The form-fitting bustier, featuring a square neckline, is offset by the flared midi-length skirt.

The accessories gave the look a trendy edge: the 13-year-old actor wore elbow-length evening gloves and a choker tied into a bow, making her look like if Wednesday Addams were a guest star on “Bridgerton.” Butters wore her hair in a tousled Pamela Anderson updo courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Nancilee Santos, and she leaned into the retro feel with winged eyeliner done by makeup artist Katelin Gan.

For a closer peek at Butters’s bright gown styled to the nines, look ahead.
