The European Handball League – Sports Gossip


The European Handball League (EHL) is the premier handball competition in Europe for both men and women. It is the flagship handball event in Europe and is a must-see for handball fans all over the world. It consists of teams from all across Europe, features some of the top handball players in the world and each season culminates with an exciting Final Four tournament.

The competition has been running since 1995 and continues to be one of the most popular handball leagues in Europe. The EHL is governed by the European handball Federation (EHF).

The EHL consists of two stages:

Group Stage, where teams are divided into four groups playing home and away fixtures; and Knockout Stage, which begins with Quarter-Finals followed by Semi-Finals and then Finals. Each team is awarded points on a 3-2-1 basis for every match won or drawn during the group stage. The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage. The winning team earns the right to represent Europe in handball at the Olympics.

Every year, more than 30 clubs vie for a spot in the Final Four. To qualify, teams compete during the regular season in various groups such as Group A or Group B, and then move on to playoffs. In each round, teams must win at least two out of three games in order to advance to the next stage. At the end of these stages, four teams will have earned a place in the Final Four tournament.

The Final Four tournament is the most exciting part of the EHL season. The teams that make it this far are truly the best in Europe and they compete for a chance to be crowned handball champions. This tournament culminates with an exciting championship game between the two finalists, and all eyes from across handball-loving Europe will be on this match.

The current season (2022/23) will feature two groups, each with eight teams competing against each other in a round-robin format This season, 20 men’s and 16 women’s teams from all over Europe will take part in this exciting competition. Fans can look forward to seeing some of the best handball players from all over Europe competing against each other in a thrilling tournament. With teams from Austria, Denmark, Germany, France, and more, it is sure to be one of the most competitive handball championships in recent years.

The top four teams from each group will then move on to the quarterfinals, which will determine who makes it to the final four and ultimately, who is crowned the handball European League champion. This season promises to be one of the most intense and exciting yet, so don’t miss out!
