The eagerly awaited X-Men ’97 is preparing to take one of its central characters on a “wild” journey in its inaugural season. Although Marvel Studios has not yet announced the Disney+ premiere date, X-Men ’97 is designed as a sequel and reboot of the 1990s X-Men: The Animated Series, featuring a host of original voice actors from the show.
Lenore Zann, the voice behind Rogue in X-Men ’97, recently shared some insights into the upcoming Season 1 and provided fans with an update on Season 2. In a conversation with Toonado, Zann described her character’s journey in the upcoming Disney+ series as a “wild ride.” Zann expressed her enthusiasm for revisiting the role of Rogue, calling it her “favorite character I’ve played to date.” She also shared her thankfulness for the sustained support from fans of the original series, which she thinks helped make the revival feasible. “I’m grateful to the fans for their loyalty and support for our original series – and for my performance – which has made this possible,” Zann stated.
She also expressed her gratitude to X-Men ’97 showrunner Beau DeMayo and Charley Feldman for their insistence on her return as Rogue. While Zann was careful to avoid revealing any spoilers about the rebooted storyline, she did hint that Rogue “will go through a lot” and advised fans to brace themselves for a “wild ride.” “As usual, Rogue will go through a lot in ‘X-Men ’97’. Like me, she’s a passionate woman who can’t help wearing her heart on her sleeve. So, buckle up for a wild ride!” Zann shared.
DeMayo has also shed light on Rogue’s upcoming storyline, revealing that it would involve “Gambit” and exploring why they shouldn’t relish the “life of acceptance” they have fought for.
“…Other X-Men like Jean and the will they, won’t they couple Gambit and Rogue are starting to begin to question, ‘Maybe there is a life… we’ve been fighting for this life of acceptance, can we just go out there and enjoy it for once, maybe?'”

X-Men ’97: New Threats, Main Characters, and an Uncertain Premiere
Marvel
Originally planned for a Fall 2023 rollout, recent hitches in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the absence of an official launch date have made fans question whether the series might start in 2024 instead.
Meanwhile, merchandise and comments from the cast and crew have provided fans with some clues about what to expect. DeMayo and producer Jake Castorena divulged details about the first episode, which involves the X-Men “confront[ing] a new Sentinel threat” and being “unexpectedly attacked” mid-mission.
“We showed a clip from the first episode that shows the X-Men going off [on] a mission to confront a new Sentinel threat… And mid-mission they are unexpectedly attacked and have to use their Danger Room practice skills to save themselves.”
Additionally, it appears that Rogue is not the only character in for a tumultuous journey. Reports indicate that traditional X-Men antagonist Magneto will lead the team, while Storm and Cyclops will be the series’ “main characters.” As the enthusiasm for X-Men ’97 keeps escalating, fans are hopeful that further information about the series, its characters, and the inaugural season will be made public shortly.
X-Men ’97 has no set premiere date, yet.
