Meghan Markle: Dress-Shamed For Showing Too Much Skin!

In terms of twists of fate that are universally fantasized about, becoming royalty is right up there with winning the lotto or receiving an owl delivery informing you that you’ve been accepted to Hogwarts.

And like so many Power Ball victors and budding wizards before her, Meghan Markle is learning that the reality is far more complicated than the dream.

Sure, she doesn’t have to ward off Death-Eaters, or relatives in search of a “small loan,” but Meghan is currently experiencing the wrath of a group that can be just as soulless and predatory.

We’re speaking, of course, about stuffy Brits who use their obsession with royal protocol as an excuse to get publicly denigrate anyone who dares to defy convention.

(Conveniently, these people forget that the most beloved royals throughout history are so well-remembered because they did exactly that.)

Meghan has it even harder than most, as she’s a divorced American woman of color and a former actress.

We’re not saying that’s why so many people were critical of the dress Meghan wore to the weekend’s Trooping the Colour event, but … well, we really can’t imagine why else they’d take issue with her attire.

The event is an annual military parade in honor of the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, which is actually in April because there’s no part of the royal family that makes even a tiny amount of sense.

Meghan was widely criticized for her choice of attire, which many felt was too revealing:

“Off the shoulder is inappropriate day wear at the Trooping or any official engagement,” tweeted one detractor.

“I do feel her choice of an off the shoulder dress was pushing it for HRH Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday celebration,” commented another critic.

“I have a feeling she’s going to push the limits a little too much?!”

Of course, there were many who felt that Meghan’s fashion was on point as always.

“Meghan Markle broke protocol by wearing an off the shoulder dress. Keep doing you boo!” wrote one fan.

“Oh, the humanity!! The crown is experiencing such unrest with two barely visible shoulders. Stop it!!” another remarked.

“The American Princess is the epitome of class, beauty, and style. We love Meghan Markle,” a third commented.

Another Meg-defender helpfully pointed out that Kate Middleton, Princess Diana, and even Queen Elizabeth have sported off-the-shoulder looks at official events.

It’s anyone’s guess as to why Meghan is so widely considered less “classy” than some of her predecessors, but sadly, the mixed reviews for her first royal event were not unexpected.

Fortunately, Meg will soon have time to consult with her new mother-in-law about these pesky peasants.

She and Queen Elizabeth are scheduled to embark on their first solo outing next week.
