Chucky Doll Arrested In Mexico for Being Used to Terrorize People

Summary

  • Chucky, the iconic horror doll from the Child’s Play franchise, was used by a man to terrorize and rob people in Mexico, highlighting the cultural impact of the character.
  • The Chucky series is set to return with its third season, promising to be the scariest yet, with a unique and dark agenda, according to producer Alex Hedlund.
  • In the upcoming season, Chucky takes his killing spree to the White House, becoming a real threat to the entire nation, as the show continues to follow the gripping story of Jake and the survivors of Chucky’s crimes.

Chucky just couldn’t wait for the Halloween celebrations to begin before setting out and terrorizing the streets of Mexico. Although the horror icon himself was not technically the culprit, a man was arrested for robbing people using the doll from the Child’s Play franchise – and it seems the doll was arrested by the authorities too.

Created by Don Mancini in 1988, Chucky has become one of the greatest characters of the horror genre, especially when it comes to slashers. Even today, so many years later, the films are still considered classics and new stories are being developed within the franchise.

That’s why, during the month of Halloween, it’s not unusual to see costumes and Chucky-related merchandise everywhere. However, it seems that this year the doll got ahead of the celebration, and took things to another level.

Reuters broke the news that a man was arrested along with his Chucky doll for using it to terrorize the population in a town in Mexico. According to authorities in Monclova, where the incident occurred, the man tied a real knife to the doll’s hand to threaten people and rob them. The outlet confirms that the man was later released, but the doll was not returned to him and is whereabouts are unknown.

Chucky Season 3 Will Be the Scariest Yet According Producer

NBC Universal Syndication Studios

In 2021, two years after the release of the Child’s Play remake starring Mark Hamill, Don Mancini revived the original Chucky universe by bringing the demon doll to the small screen.

The Chucky series is set to return on October 4 to SYFY and USA Network with its third season, and according to its producer Alex Hedlund it will be the scariest yet. He recently confirmed it in an interview with SFX Magazine (via GamesRadar):

“It’s very unexpected. It is unlike anything that we’ve seen in the previous seasons or the films. It may be, dare I say, the darkest agenda yet. There’s also a personal interest for Chucky that is very unique for this season. Truly, Don really wanted to make this the scariest season yet, and I think he succeeded.”

The show centers on Jake, a young outcast who develops a friendship with a Chucky doll. However, their relationship takes a dark turn when his toy friend starts murdering those who seem to bother his owner, unleashing chaos and fear in the town. In the second season, Jake and the small group of survivors of Chucky’s crimes from the first installment had to face the demon doll once again, who came looking for them to take revenge.

In the third season, Chucky reaches the highest point in his career as a killing doll and arrives at the White House. Accompanying the president’s son, the evil toy seeks to accumulate more and more power and become a real danger to the entire nation. The Chucky television adaptation stars Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany Valentine, Zackary Arthur as Jake Wheeler, Bjorgvin Arnarson as Devon Evans, Bjorgvin Arnarson as Lexy Cross, and Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky.
