Terrifier 3 Director Unveils Release Window After the Sequel’s Viral Hit

Summary

  • Terrifier 3 is set to be released in 2024, with director Damien Leone promising fans “special surprises” to make up for the wait.
  • The success of Terrifier 2, which grossed over $11 million domestically and $15 million worldwide, has paved the way for the highly anticipated Terrifier 3.
  • With an active development timeline and a growing fan base, Terrifier 3 is expected to surpass the success of its predecessors and become the most successful installment in the franchise.

The much-anticipated announcement for the release window of Terrifier 3 has finally been made by the director, Damien Leone, a year after Terrifier 2, the slasher horror sequel, took the box office by storm. Terrifier 3, following the massive success of its predecessor, is part of a series created by the low-budget horror aficionado Leone, originating from his 2011 short film, and later adapted into the 2013 anthology All Hallows’ Eve and the standalone 2016 movie. The sequel, Terrifier 2, drew large crowds, eager to witness the spine-chilling antics of Art the Clown once more.

Bloody Disgusting reports that the next sequel in the Terrifier series has a confirmed release window. Leone revealed that Terrifier 3 is slated for release “next year” in 2024, but also teased “some special surprises” as a year is too long for fans to wait. Leone expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support Terrifier 2 received and the enthusiasm it sparked among both new and seasoned fans. In a statement, he said:

“This year has been unlike anything we could have imagined. To see all the love Terrifier 2 has received and the excitement this release has inspired from fans new and old, is truly beyond words. As a thank you to them and the many people who worked tirelessly on this release, we want to bring it back to the big screen where it belongs. And more than that, while fans eagerly await the release of Terrifier 3 next year, we will be including some special surprises because a year is just too long to wait.”

The announcement of the third installment comes as a direct response to the “excitement” generated by the 2022 sequel, which astonishingly grossed over $11 million domestically and over $15 million worldwide, despite limited publicity and a modest $250,000 budget. The film managed to recoup its budget more than 40 times over, a staggering feat.

Leone had previously indicated that he had written the sequel with teases for Terrifier 3 in mind. He even suggested that a fourth installment might be necessary to encompass all the story ideas he had conceived for the third movie and that it might serve as the conclusion to the franchise. It is clear that Leone has no intention of concluding Art the Clown’s gory saga anytime soon, as he believes there are more narratives to explore in the Terrifier universe.
