Nate Diaz Lines Up Fight with Jake Paul

UFC fighter Nate Diaz is set to compete in a boxing match against YouTuber turned Boxing and social media villain Jake Paul on August 10th in Dallas, Texas. Despite being a long-serving UFC fighter with a great record, this will be his first-ever boxing match. Jake Paul is going into his eighth professional fight. If the two were to meet in a Mixed Martial Arts fight, then the UFC betting odds would predict a victory for Nate Diaz – but this is a hypothetical scenario that many betting enthusiasts look forward to.

In fact, you would put your whole mortgage on a win for Diaz. But with the fight being a boxing match, then you would be forgiven for thinking that Jake Paul would be the favourite with his considerably better boxing experience.

Jake Paul, a man looking for trouble?

Jake Paul started his boxing career right near the start of the YouTube boxing sensation. He fought against Deji Olatunji on the undercard of the KSI vs Jake Paul fighter, two brothers fighting two brothers on the same night. Jake Paul won his fight and caught the fighting bug. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength.

The player came a long way from his YouTube career to being involved in online slots jackpots with his newly founded, direct-to-consumer gambling company, Betr. The player married his passion for slots games, jaw-dropping jackpots, and live video game streaming, with business, serving as the CEO of the company while building his boxing career. Such multi-faceted career allowed Paul to expand into different industries, entering the world of iGaming and sports, not only as a player but also as an entrepreneur.

Paul then fought against another YouTuber, AnEsonGib, winning by TKO in the first round. This was his first ever professional fight, and he followed it up with a match against Basketball player Mate Robinson, defeating him by KO in the second round in a knockout that would become huge meme content on social media.

He then took what appeared to be a big step forward, fighting against former Wrestler Ben Askren. This is the fight that would start Paul on a journey that has followed his career since then. Fighting against people who do have a strong experience in fighting but are not boxers. This, therefore, has created the illusion of Paul being an underdog, however, he has more experience in the fight. He would go on to beat Askren in the first round.

This was then followed by two fights against Tyrone Woodley. The second of which was after Woodley was called in as a late replacement for Tommy Fury and Hasim Rahman Jr, who both had to pull out of fights. Again, Woodley is an ex-UFC fighter and Paul made light work of him. He would then fight UFC legend Anderson Silva and would win on points on what is the biggest win of his career.

After long rumours, Paul would finally fight against a professional boxer Tommy Fury, who would win the fight on points. It was thought that a rematch would take place, however, Paul has gone back to the formula that worked well for him before his first career lose, fighting UFC fighters who are not known for boxing. While Nate Diaz has won against the likes of Connor McGregor, who is known for fighting using Jiu-Jitsu, never in his career has he been praised or known for his boxing ability. Therefore, it is another case of deception from Paul. That being said, it is still a fighter that is garnering a lot of hype and will be talked about for a long time.

Nate Diaz Finds Trouble

Diaz won his last UFC Mixed Martial Arts fight against Tony Ferguson in September 2022. So, if this is to be his last fight, he will want to go out on a win. However, many people are very sceptical of the fights involving YouTubers and are quick to suggest that the former UFC fighters are happy to take the fight simply for the big payday. We will soon find out whether this is true on August 5th in Dallas.

Most recently Nate Diaz got in a lot of trouble at Misfits 6 event. Misfits is a series of boxing events which features a lineup of social media stars in the ring, with the franchise being set up and run by KSI.

He was allegedly thrown out of the event and ended up in a street brawl with a Jake Paul lookalike, ending his Diaz choking this man out. It could be a foreshadowing of what is to come in the fight between Diaz and Paul, however, as I have made very clear, choking may be one of Diaz’s biggest strengths but it won’t help him too much in a boxing match.

Jake Paul and his brother Logan Paul, who is a business partner of Jake’s biggest rival KSI, released a video together in which the mocked the footage of Nate Diaz’s street fight

However the fight is certainly possible to hold a shock or two, most recently the boxing world was shocked by Joe Joyce’s defeat to Zhilei Zhang in the fifth round, losing the WBO interim Belt in the process. No matter what some people may think of the fight, it is sure to be a huge success in pay-per-view numbers and Jake Paul will use any outcome to better his media career.
