Report: Chubb tore only MCL, injury isn’t considered career-ending

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb is believed to have torn only his MCL, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The injury isn’t considered to be career-ending, and it’s believed Chubb’s ACL is intact, Schefter adds.

Chubb suffered the gruesome injury on a hit by Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick on Monday night. The runner was almost immediately ruled out, and the broadcast elected not to show the replay due to the nature of the hit.

Chubb, 27, is expected to be out six-to-eight months with the injury and is likely to undergo surgery this week, per Schefter.

The Browns signed running back Kareem Hunt, who spent 2019-22 with the club, to help replace the 5-foot-11, 227-pound rusher’s production. Hunt had 468 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, 210 receiving yards, and one score through the air last year.

Despite adding Hunt, head coach Kevin Stefanski said that Jerome Ford will be the team’s lead back in Chubb’s absence.

Chubb tallied 170 rushing yards and 21 receiving yards on 32 touches in two games before sustaining the injury.
