Report: Garoppolo clears concussion protocol, will start vs. Packers

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo cleared concussion protocol and will start Monday night against the Green Bay Packers, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The 31-year-old missed last week’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers after suffering the injury in Week 3.

Garoppolo said Friday that he doesn’t know which hit caused the concussion in Week 3. Team doctors approached him after the game to evaluate him for the injury.

“It was a weird situation, but we got through it,” he added.

The Eastern Illinois product was a full participant in practice Friday after being limited Thursday. Garoppolo is 1-2 in three starts this season, throwing for 709 yards with five touchdowns and six interceptions.

Las Vegas signed the former 49ers signal-caller to a three-year, $72.75-million contract this offseason.

Rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell stepped in for the injured Garoppolo in Week 4. The fourth-rounder threw for 239 yards on 39 attempts.

“I thought Aidan handled himself well,” Garoppolo said. “Tough circumstances … it was tough out there, but for a rookie being his first start, I thought he handled it well.”
