Report: Giants, Soler agree to 3-year, $42M deal

The San Francisco Giants and outfielder Jorge Soler have agreed to a three-year, $42-million contract, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

The 31-year-old spent the past two seasons with the Miami Marlins and hit 36 home runs with a .853 OPS over 137 games last year.

Soler will look to boost a Giants lineup that finished 19th in home runs, 24th in runs scored, and 26th in OPS last season.

San Francisco also signed Korean star outfielder Jung Hoo Lee to a six-year contract earlier in the offseason.

Soler will likely slot in as the Giants’ designated hitter and cleanup hitter this season.

He is a career .243/.330/.467 hitter with 170 home runs and 452 RBIs over 10 MLB seasons with the Marlins, Kansas City Royals, and Atlanta Braves. Soler helped the Braves to a World Series title in 2021, winning World Series MVP in Atlanta’s six-game series victory over the Houston Astros.
