Report: Titans inform Henry they don’t intend to trade him

The Tennessee Titans told star running back Derrick Henry that they don’t plan to trade him despite receiving interest from other teams, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

There is still a chance Henry could be moved prior to Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET trade deadline, Schefter reports.

Tennessee received trade calls on multiple players, but general manager Ran Carthon won’t deal anybody barring an “exceptional” offer, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini. The Titans traded two-time Pro Bowl safety Kevin Byard to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this week.

Henry is playing out the final season of a four-year contract extension worth $50 million. The 29-year-old is set to make $6.4 million for the remainder of the campaign, Schefter adds.

The Dallas Cowboys were among teams speculated to be eyeing Henry but have not expressed any interest in trading for the 6-foot-3, 247-pound halfback, Schefter reports.

The 2020 Offensive Player of the Year has rushed for 425 yards and three touchdowns in six contests this season. However, Henry is on pace to record his lowest yards-per-carry average since 2021 when he played in only eight games. The three-time Pro Bowler has accumulated 8,760 yards and 81 touchdowns since the Titans drafted him in the second round in 2016.

Tennessee (2-4) could be a seller ahead of the deadline as the club sits fourth in the AFC South ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
