Woods finishes with 77 in 100th Masters round

It wasn’t the weekend Tiger Woods wanted at Augusta National, but the five-time champion became the 21st man to play 100 rounds at the Masters with a 5-over 77 on Sunday.

Woods looked stronger throughout the day than he did during a career-worst 82 on Saturday. He entered the weekend in 22nd place after setting a new record with his 24th straight cut made at Augusta.

The 48-year-old birdied his second hole of the day but had to battle to limit the damage across the challenging layout after that. A triple-bogey on the par-4 fifth was the big setback of the day, but he was able to play the final 12 holes in 1-over.

Woods reiterated his plan to play all four majors this season after the round, meaning he has a month-long layoff before the PGA Championship in May. He plans to use that time to do some scouting for the upcoming venues on the schedule.

While Woods played excellent golf over the opening 36 holes, his ability to maintain a high level over a 72-hole event remains questionable. With a 15-over score on the weekend, he plummeted from 22nd to sit last of the 60 players who made the cut.

This year’s event represents just the second time Woods has played 72 holes of a major championship since the 2020 fall Masters played in November.
