Summary

  • Wynonna Earp
, the supernatural Western series, is being revived with a one-off feature-length special titled
    Wynonna Earp: Vengeance.
  • The special will pick up the story after Season 4 and bring back the main cast, including Melanie Scrofano as the titular heroine.
  • The show’s creator, Emily Andras, promises a mix of character moments, challenges, and growth for the beloved characters.

Wynonna Earp is one of those rare TV shows that managed to avoid cancelation and has a decent run of episodes mostly thanks to the social media efforts of its dedicated fan base to keep it on air. Across its four seasons, the supernatural Western series followed up its rocky first run of episodes with two perfect seasons, before Season 4 brought it to a close in 2021 after five years on SYFY. Now the series has been given an unexpected but very welcome revival, with a one-off feature-length special giving the titular demon protector one last ride.

Seasons 4

The eagerly anticipated return of Wynonna Earp will come under the title of Wynonna Earp: Vengeance, and will stream on Tubi later this year. As per Vanity Fair, the 90-minute special brings back Melanie Scrofano as the titular heroine, with Tim Rozon as Doc Holliday, Dom Provost-Chalkley as Waverly Earp, and Katherine Barrell as Nicole Haught also returning. The special is expected to air towards the end of the year, and will pick up the story of Earp following the events of Season 4.

Writer Emily Andras announced the new addition to the series during a video reunion with the cast, and it is clear that they are just as thrilled as the show’s fans to be returning for a “proper send-off.” Speaking during the reunion, Provost-Chalkley said:

“There are definitely some nerves, but it’s kind of muddled with this ecstasy and excitement of actually putting on Waverly’s shoes again. I haven’t been on set since we left, so that’s gonna be a whole thing, just to reconnect with that world. But I keep telling myself that if there’s any group that I want to do that with, it’s this family.”

Wynonna Earp’s New Adventure Details Revealed

During the same video, Andras shared an insight into exactly where the new special will fit into the timeline of the series. Confirming that the events will take place after Season 4, she explained:

“Doc and Wynonna have been on an adventure, and Waverly and Nicole have been at home in [the Earp hometown of] Purgatory, doing their thing. I think it’s going to be really interesting to see, hopefully, what gets everybody home—maybe facing a challenge they’ve never faced before, something pretty intense. It’s all your favorite—hopefully—character moments, but also a little bit about growing up and sort of, like, being who you are now and earning all your choices.”

As fans celebrated on social media, the return of Wynonna Earp is just another example of certain shows managing to find that special place where fans refuse to let them go, and those behind the projects are happy to do what it takes to bring them back to the screen. Although fan campaigns don’t always work, there is no doubt that Wynonna Earp is only getting this ride because of her fans. Check out some of the responses to the news below.
