Rick and Morty Season 7 Unveils ‘Puntastic’ Episode Titles

Summary

  • Rick and Morty fans are eagerly awaiting the emotional and pun-filled season seven, which is expected to be a somber chapter.
  • The show’s creative team has consistently delivered inventive puns for episode titles, regardless of their relevance to the plot.
  • The upcoming season marks a monumental renewal deal and a potential narrative shift, with Rick seeking revenge and higher stakes than ever before.

The countdown is on for the return of everyone’s favorite dysfunctional grandparent-grandchild team, Rick and Morty. Viewers are anxiously anticipating the launch of season seven, expected to be an emotional whirlwind, possibly the most somber chapter in the ongoing narrative of the tormented inventor and his grandson. Recently, Adult Swim disclosed the titles of the episodes for the upcoming season, and characteristically for Rick and Morty, they are brimming with puns derived from mainstream culture.

This practice of giving episodes witty, pun-filled titles has been a staple of the series since its inception, regardless of their relevance to the episode’s plot. Over the past decade, the creative minds behind this iconic series have consistently delivered inventive puns. Season seven’s lineup includes titles such as “How Poopy Got His Poop Back,” “The Jerrick Trap,” “Air Force Wong,” “That’s Amorte,” “Unmortricken,” “Rickfending Your Mort,” “Wet Kuat Amortican Summer,” “Rise of the Numbericons: The Movie,” “Mort: Ragnarick,” and “Fear No Mort.”

This upcoming season is part of a monumental renewal deal that Rick and Morty secured back in 2018, following the outstanding success of its third season. This renewal, one of the largest in the history of scripted television, included an order for approximately seventy episodes, allowing series co-creator Dan Harmon to further delve into the world he crafted. While the announcement did not itemize the exact total of seasons included in the deal, the universal deduction was that it would engender seven newfangled seasons, each comprising ten episodes.

Rick and Morty Season 7 Promises Exciting Changes, High Stakes & New Takes

Adult Swim

Fascinatingly, even though the series has mainly sidestepped a straightforward narrative, it appears that a more integrated storyline is commencing to develop. Rick Sanchez of Earth C-137 has spent years searching for the version of himself responsible for the deaths of his wife and daughter. It seems that Rick has again pinpointed his enemy, and this time around, he is determined not to permit him to slip away.

Assisted by his grandson Morty, Rick is on a mission to avenge his lost loved ones while safeguarding his newfound family. With time dwindling for our lead characters and the future of the multiverse on a knife’s edge, the stakes have escalated to unparalleled levels.

Nevertheless, a significant modification is expected for this season. Justin Roiland, who has voiced both Rick and Morty since 2013, was dismissed from all Adult Swim projects, including Rick and Morty, following allegations of domestic violence. Roiland’s alleged unprofessionalism and the harm he inflicted outside of work prompted Adult Swim and Harmon to proceed with the series without him. Although Roiland’s successor has not yet been revealed, an announcement is expected imminently as the season premiere approaches.

As enthusiasts keenly anticipate the comeback of Rick and Morty on October 7, they can relish the complete array of ingeniously devised episode titles for the time being. With a fresh narrative direction, new voice talent, and the same irreverent humor, season seven is set to be an exciting chapter in the Rick and Morty saga.
