“May the 4th be with you!” Yes, Star Wars Day just got more exciting, because the official trailer for the animated shorts, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, has dropped, which fans can watch above. And the footage, which features a cameo by Darth Vader himself, reveals a glimpse at the six original shorts that will all drop Saturday, May 4 on Disney+. Check out the synopsis for Tales of the Empire below:

Star Wars: Tales of the Empire
is a six-episode journey into the fearsome Galactic Empire through the eyes of two warriors on divergent paths, set during different eras. After losing everything, young Morgan Elsbeth navigates the expanding Imperial world toward a path of vengeance, while former Jedi Barriss Offee does what she must to survive a rapidly changing galaxy. The choices they make will define their destinies.”

Diana Lee Inosanto voices the role of the witchy Morgan Elsbeth, which the actress first brought to life in the live-action Disney+ series The Mandalorian and then Ahsoka. However, one of the biggest thrills for Star Wars fans will arguably be the return of actor Jason Isaacs as the voice of the Grand Inquisitor.

General Grievous & Grand Admiral Thrawn Also Return

There were many characters integral to The Clone Wars period, which followed the events of Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones. One of those is General Grievous, who fell in battle against Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) in one of the franchise’s best feature films, Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith. However, the coughing, cantankerous leader of the droid army, Grievous, also returns thanks to the voice talents of Matthew Wood in Star Wars: Tales of the Empire. While several have portrayed Grievous, it was Wood who brought him to life in Revenge of the Sith.

Another familiar Star Wars alum, Lars Mikkelsen, is also present and accounted for among the cast of Tales of the Empire. Mikkelsen once more voices the evil Grand Admiral Thrawn. Mikkelsen enjoys the distinction of portraying Thrawn both in animation (Star Wars Rebels) and live-action (Ahsoka). Meredith Salenger (Barriss Offee), Rya Kihlstedt (Fourth Sister) and Wing T. Chao (Wing) round out the roster of creative castmates.

Athena Yvette Portillo and Carrie Beck are also EPs on Tales of the Empire, while Josh Rimes (co-executive producer) and Alex Spotswood (senior producer) also contribute to the series.
