The critically acclaimed The Bear has officially been renewed for a third season at FX, and star Jeremy Allen White has teased the production’s start date of late February – early March 2024.

The series, which stars White as award-winning chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto as he leaves behind the prestigious world of chef de cuisine and returns to his hometown of Chicago to run his late brother’s failing restaurant, has been met with widespread praise from critics and audiences alike, with a third season now on the grill.

White is currently starring alongside Zac Efron in A24’s wrestling drama The Iron Claw, and the actor spoke recently to Deadline, touching on his return in another season of The Bear. According to the site, Allen has not yet seen the scripts for the new season, but the actor shared his hopes to see Carmy make a swift escape from the walk-in freezer he found himself locked in at the end of season 2. He additionally wants to see another big selection of guest stars turning up for the new season, just like the previous one, which included appearances from, among others, Jon Bernthal, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

When previously discussing the return of The Bear, FX entertainment president Nick Grad said (via The Hollywood Reporter):

“The Bear, which wowed audiences in its first season only to achieve even greater heights in season two, has become a cultural phenomenon. We’re so proud to partner with Christopher Storer, Joanna Calo, Josh Senior, and the rest of the creative team, as well as the brilliant cast led by Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. What they and the crew have done is truly remarkable, and we and our partners at Hulu join fans in looking forward to the next chapter in the story of The Bear.”

First airing in 2022, The Bear introduces audiences to Jeremy Allen White as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, an award-winning New York City chef de cuisine, who leaves the fine dining world behind and returns to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop, the Original Beef of Chicagoland. The brilliant young chef is sadly forced to make the trip home to take care of the family business after the tragic death of his brother, with the series centering on food, family, and the steep slippery downsides that come with both.

Debuting in June this year, the second season of The Bear once again centers on Carmy and his crew as he continues to fight to transform both the restaurant that was left to him by his dearly departed brother and himself, with the master chef, his protégé Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) Richard “Richie” Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and the rest of the rest of the family working hard to change their simple sandwich shop into a top-tier eatery.
