Some fans are expressing their sadness of The Flash coming to an end, looking back upon the years they’d spent watching the series up to this point. Getting a date on the board for the final season is making it feel that much more real for those fans.

“I’m unwell … it’s hitting now that a date has been announced,” one fan says.

Another writes, “Show carried my childhood. I’ve rewatched countless times. Gonna be sad when it ends.”

And as another puts it, “this is gonna be sad when it ends man.”

While some fans may have been hoping for The Flash to return for season 10, the good news is that the series won’t be ending with an unsatisfactory cliffhanger. After it was announced that season 9 would close out the series, star Grant Gustin addressed the news with an Instagram video where he stated that they are going to finish the series on their terms, suggesting that they’ll be building up to a way to close out the story as they see fit.

“I’m really excited to get to do this one more time, finish on our terms,” Gustin says in the video. “I’m going to enjoy every minute of it, as much as I can and I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting the show and allowing us to go as long as we have.”

He added, “Thank you again for supporting us. I hope you enjoy this last season. I know I’m going to enjoy making it.”

The Flash will debut its ninth and final season on The CW on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023.
