You Season 3 Teaser Trailer Arrives, Fall Release Date Announced on Netflix

Netflix have announced that the new series of You will arrive on the platform starting October 15. The production was among the many projects that were hit by delays due to Covid, meaning that fans of the psychological thriller series have had an extended wait to see the continuation of the story of Joe, the one time bookstore manager who proved that he would do anything for love…no matter what that entailed. The first two seasons were big hits for Netflix, so a third season was always pretty much assured, but it has been a lengthy wait to see where Joe’s slightly unhinged ways will take him next.

The series is based on the Caroline Keynes books You and Hidden Bodies, and while the author did release a third book in the series this April, titled You Love Me, the third series of the TV show was already written by then, meaning that fans will now be able to see two completely different versions of the story, very much in the way of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones – assuming his final two books ever arrive.

The first season of You saw Joe, played by Penn Badgley meeting and falling for an aspiring author and making the decision to start using her social media to gather intimate details about her in order to integrate himself into her life. This ended up with Joe strategically taking out people and obstacles that came between them. The second season moved the setting from New York to Los Angeles, with Joe living under a new identity and falling in love all over again, leading to more of his miscalculated ways of ensuring their lives are destined to be together. The season ended with Joe and new love, Love Quinn, moving into a new neighborhood.

Season 3 of the series kicks off with Joe and Love married and now with a child, living in Northern California. However, the picture of married bliss starts to show cracks when Love’s need to be impulsive and Joe’s growing desire for the woman next door begin to bring about some rather major complications to their lives.

The new Netflix season sees Badgley and Victoria Pedretti returning as Joe and Love, while others starring in the series include Saffron Burrows as Dottie Quinn, Tati Gabrielle as Marianne, Dylan Arnold as Theo, Shalita Grant as Sherry, Travis Van Winkle as Cary, Scott Speedman as Matthew, Michaela McManus as Natalie, Shannon Chan-Kent as Kiki, Ben Menhl as Dante, Chris O’Shea as Andrew and Christopher Sean as Brandon.

As Netflix released their teaser for the show, it is hard to believe how long it is since we last caught up with Joe and his obsessive ways. While fans are now looking forward to the new arrival on October 15, there will also be plenty who will want to pick up the novel to see the different direction the author took the story on her own terms.
