Von Miller joins Cowboys: ‘Let’s make this one special’

Eight-time Pro Bowl linebacker and former Super Bowl MVP Von Miller is signing with the Dallas Cowboys, the team announced Sunday.

He’ll ink a one-year contract, a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

“Dallas! Let’s make this one special,” Miller wrote on X.

The 37-year-old spent the 2025 season with the Washington Commanders, racking up nine sacks in 17 games, including 1.5 sacks in two contests against Dallas.

Miller’s 2025 sack total would’ve topped the Cowboys, who saw Jadeveon Clowney lead the team with 8.5 sacks last year. Clowney reunited with the Houston Texans this season.

Adding edge rushers has been a priority for Dallas. The club traded for Rashan Gary and used a first-round pick on Malachi Lawrence. The Cowboys also roster 2025 second-round pick Donovan Ezeiruaku and fifth-year pro James Houston, among others.

The Cowboys will be Miller’s fifth team. He’s also spent time with the Denver Broncos (2011-21), Los Angeles Rams (2021), Buffalo Bills (2022-24), and Commanders (2025).

Miller won the Super Bowl with two different teams (the Broncos and Rams). The 2011 No. 2 pick boasts 138.5 career sacks, the most among active players.

All-time Cowboys’ sack leader DeMarcus Ware shared a photo of himself on FaceTime with Miller on Sunday. Ware and Miller played together in Denver, and they’re tied for the ninth-most official career sacks in NFL history.

Miller had pushed for a reunion with the Broncos earlier in the offseason, but the two sides never started new contract negotiations.

Miller grew up in Texas and went to high school south of Dallas before establishing himself as a football star at Texas A&M.
