No Way Home Wins Box Office Weekend With Return to Theaters

Spider-Man: No Way Home – The More Fun Stuff Version claimed the No. 1 spot at the box office for the weekend.

Marvel Studios

The extended cut of Spider-Man: No Way Home has pushed the hit superhero movie back into the top spot at the box office. When the film came out in December of last year, it smashed records to become one of the most successful movies of all time. Sony and Marvel no doubt knew there was more money to be made with a special re-release, leading to this new extended cut of the film dubbed Spider-Man: No Way Home – The More Fun Stuff Version.

Spider-Man: No Way Home – The More Fun Stuff Version snagged $6 million in North American theaters, and as it was a pretty quiet weekend at the box office, that gives the movie the No. 1 spot. It had been duking it out with another record-smashing sequel that had similarly dominated theaters with its own theatrical run, as Top Gun: Maverick lands at No. 2 with $5.49 million earned. Let’s just take a brief moment to now consider the total domestic grosses for each film, as Spidey has now drawn more than $810.7 million ($1.9 billion worldwide) while Maverick is up to over $698.8 million ($1.4 billion worldwide).

Meanwhile, the animated feature DC League of Super-Pets climbed back up the list with a 32% growth, landing at No. 3 with $5.45 million. That puts it just behind what Maverick had pulled in. To round out the top 5, the Brad Pitt movie Bullet Train fell to No. 4 with $5.4 million while the new horror The Invitation dropped from the No. 1 spot to No. 5 this weekend with $4.7 million earned.
