Tiger soaking in Masters: ‘I don’t know how many more I have in me’

Tiger Woods won’t be taking this year’s trip to Augusta National for granted.

“Yeah, I don’t know how many more I have in me,” Woods said at his press conference Tuesday. “So, just to be able to appreciate the time that I have here and cherish the memories.”

The five-time champion also admitted the thought of this year being his last Masters has crossed his mind.

“Last year, I didn’t know if I was going to play again,” Woods said. “For some reason, everything kind of came together.”

The 2022 Masters was Tiger’s first tournament after he was seriously injured in a car crash in February 2021. He made the cut despite severe physical limitations and finished 47th.

Woods missed the event in 2021, was T-38 in 2020, and won in 2019 to capture his 15th major. Even though Woods conceded he’s just thankful to be involved in the tournament at this stage of his career, the 47-year-old maintained his lifelong adage of being in it to win it.

“What this tournament allows us to do is pass on knowledge and gain knowledge from the past and apply it,” he said. “Whether I’m a threat to them or not, who knows. People probably didn’t think I was a threat in ’19 either, but it kind of turned out OK.”

Woods will begin his tournament Thursday at 10:18 a.m. ET in a group with Viktor Hovland and Xander Schauffele.
