Bruce Campbell to Appear on Impractical Jokers for Evil Dead Spoof

The groovy one is heading to Impractical Jokers. Ahead of the release of the new horror film Evil Dead Rise, which is executive produced by franchise star Bruce Campbell, the actor himself will appear on the TruTV prank comedy series. A sneak peek preview clip has been released online by TruTV on Twitter, and the video showcases Campbell watching on alongside James “Murr” Murray and Sal Vulcano as Brian “Q” Quinn involved in an Evil Dead-themed spoof. Quinn is even dressed up as Campbell’s Ash Williams character, chainsaw on his hand and all, as you can see by watching the clip below.

“Now I know why Sam Raimi enjoyed tormenting the hell out of me as Ash,” Campbell wrote on Twitter while sharing the video, which shows Quinn hurting himself with a plate he assumed to be a breakaway prop.

The series is in its tenth season the first to go completely without Joe Gatto following his exit partway through season 9. Whiel this left a hole in the show, Quinn previously teased how the change in format, which allowed for more special guest stars to be brought in to help fill the void, kept the series fun moving forward, even with the group’s longtime friend and partner stepping away for personal reasons.

“Now I’m just like, ‘F*** it, let’s start breaking format here and there,” Quinn said on the Tell ’em Steve-Dave! podcast. “I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t think people were going to like it, but I think people are going to be really surprised at what we end up doing. It’s going to be great. I’m more invested and more involved and having more fun than I’ve had in a long time.”

The Impractical Jokers episode featuring Campbell will air on TruTV on April 13 at 10 p.m. ET.

Bruce Campbell previously said he would no longer play Ash in any more live-action projects after Ash vs. Evil Dead finished its run. He has since voiced the character for video games, and he had also teased an Evil Dead animated series that’s in the works. Lee Cronin wrote and directed the script for Evil Dead Rise, but Campbell does not appear in the movie as Ash, as the film follows all-new characters. It stars Lily Sullivan, Morgan Davies, and Alyssa Sutherland.

Evil Dead Rise will premiere in theters on April 21, 2023. You can check out the official trailer for the film below.
