Actress Rosario Dawson, who portrays Ahsoka Tano in the Star Wars franchise, reveals the release window for the upcoming Ahsoka series on Disney+.

Lucasfilm

Ahsoka Tano, the beloved character from the Star Wars universe, has been a topic of conversation among fans ever since her live-action debut in The Mandalorian. The character’s latest appearance was in episode six of The Book of Boba Fett, where she was seen with Luke Skywalker and the adorable Grogu. Prior to this, she was last seen in The Mandalorian season two, where she held ex-imperial industrialist Morgan Elsbeth at lightsaber point and demanded to know the location of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Star Wars fans around the world were delighted when Disney+ announced the upcoming Ahsoka series in December 2020.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Rosario Dawson, who portrays the character of Ahsoka Tano, revealed during an interview with Today with Hoda & Jenna that the show won’t arrive on the streaming platform until Fall 2023. This news has been met with mixed reactions, as some fans were hoping for an earlier release date. Despite Dawson’s announcement, it’s worth noting that Lucasfilm and Disney+ have not officially confirmed a release window beyond 2023. Nonetheless, fans will have to wait a bit longer to see what Ahsoka Tano has been up to.

“Ahsoka, yeah, that’s probably gonna come out in the fall,” Dawson shared. “We’re gonna have Haunted Mansion come out in August first, and I just did some beautiful Disney+ commercial voice-over. And I’m like, have I just become a Disney Princess?”

Ahsoka’s timeline has been revealed to take place in the same post-Return of the Jedi era as The Mandalorian, putting the series roughly five years after the events of the original Star Wars trilogy. Fans are hoping to see how Ahsoka navigates through a galaxy that’s still recovering from the Empire’s fall, and how her experiences as a former Jedi during the Clone Wars will affect her in this new chapter. The show’s premise also provides a unique opportunity for crossover appearances, as The Mandalorian has already brought in characters from other parts of the Star Wars universe.

What We Know About the Upcoming Ahsoka Series

Disney

Ahsoka Tano first appeared in the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars series and quickly became a beloved part of the franchise. The upcoming series has left fans speculating about the plot, with many believing that it will revolve around the character’s search for two missing characters. Fans of the Star Wars franchise will remember that both Thrawn and Ezra Bridger disappeared into space at the end of Star Wars: Rebels, and it is believed that the show will delve into Ahsoka and Sabine Wren’s quest to locate their missing friend and foe, respectively. However, it remains to be seen how long this search will take, and if it will span over more than one season.

The Star Wars universe is one where the plot is heavily influenced by the characters present in it. Fans can expect to see Rosario Dawson reprising her role as the titular character. In addition, Natasha Liu Bordizzo will be joining the cast as Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian warrior from Star Wars: Rebels who will also be making the transition from animation to live-action. Furthermore, Hayden Christensen will be returning to the franchise as Anakin Skywalker, albeit in the form of a force ghost or through flashbacks. It has also been revealed that Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ray Stevenson, and Ivanna Sakhno have been cast in undisclosed roles.

It remains to be seen how the Ahsoka series will expand on the character’s backstory and connect to the wider Star Wars universe, but fans can undoubtedly expect an exciting adventure in a galaxy far, far away. Ahsoka is set to debut on Disney+ at some point in 2023.
