The Simpsons Meets Married… with Children in Slightly Unnerving Live-Action AI Crossover Video

The worlds of The Simpsons and Married… with Children have always had plenty of similarities, and that has been put to good use by a new AI video mash-up that brings the Springfield family to life and drops them into the opening credits of the Ed O’Neill sitcom.

In this somewhat frightening rendition, the wonders of I have not quite managed to create a seamless interpretation of Matt Groening’s characters, but with a little help from some on screen titles anyone struggling to see what the goal of the video is will soon be back on track. With Homer, Marge, Lisa and Maggie slipping into the shoes – and couch – of the Bundys, you can now get an idea of what The Simpsons could look like if they were suddenly thrown into a Married with Children crossover, as shared by Schrodingers Film Club on Instagram.

The Simpsons and Married… with Children both made their first appearance back in 1987 within just two weeks of each other. While it could almost be possible to think that one was created as a direct imitation of the other, their almost simultaneous release means that it was nothing more than a coincidence that both shows depicted very similar family situations, especially the comparisons between Al and Peggy Bundy and Homer and Marge Simpsons.

Would a Live Action Simpsons Movie Work?

Fox

The Simpsons have been subjected to live-action fan art experiments over the years, and have even toyed around with some live-action scenarios in their “Treehouse of Horror” episodes, but would it work to turn the entire show into live-action? Probably not. There are many ways that making The Simpsons “real” could be done, but in most cases the characters are such caricatures of people that interpreting them to live-action either takes away their unique look, or embraces it and becomes some kind of yellow nightmare fuel.

Currently, The Simpsons is still going strong, despite the fact that have been going for over three decades and often comes under fire for having continued on too long. A second big screen movie has been the subject of many discussions, but so far that doesn’t seem likely to happen anytime soon.

In recent years, social media users have constantly made the show go viral for picking out several times the show appears to have predicted the future, from Donald Trump’s presidency to the creation of smartwatches. The release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has even had some believing that The Simpsons predicted the movie 30 years ago with its “Lisa vs Malibu Stacy” episode, in which Lisa demanded that doll creators make a doll to empower women, and looked at the impact of such toys on the impressionable minds of young children. As this is the same question answered by Barbie, a movie that doesn’t hold back from pointing out the flaws with the “perfect” doll, it is easy to see why some would compare the two.
