1. Women’s FIFA World Cup

One of the biggest events of the year is the Women’s FIFA World Cup taking place this Summer. For the first time in history, there are going to be no less than 32 nations participating. The championship is going to be taking place in Australia and New Zealand on July 20 to August 20. The matches will be played in 9 host cities and 10 stadiums.  

2. NBA Finals

One of the biggest sporting events every year is the NBA finals. Basketball is most likely the second most watched sport in the US making this event bigger than big. The top 6 NBA teams participate in the NBA playoffs, this year beginning on April 15. The finals will be held in June. Last year, it was the Golden State Warriors who took home the win. 

3. US Open

The US Open is the biggest tennis tournament in the US. This Grand Slam event gathers the top tennis stars in the world for a magical tournament. Taking place during the Summer in New York, it has a very unique and vibrant atmosphere. This year, the US Open is beginning on August 28 and ending on September 10. 

4. Grand National

If you’re a fan of horse racing, you’re probably looking forward to the Grand National. It is the most-watched horse race on earth and is often labeled as the world’s most iconic steeplechase. This major sporting event is happening at the Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, England. This year, you can experience this three-day horse racing festival from April 13 to April 15. 

5. Rugby World Cup

Another world cup taking place this year is the men’s Rugby World Cup. The best team from all over the globe will meet in France from September 8 to October 28 to compete in the world championship. Twelve countries are participating this year. The teams are South Africa, Argentina, New Zealand, Italy, England, Ireland, Wales, Australia, Japan, Scotland, Fiji, and France. Last time, in 2019 South Africa took out England 32−12 in the final and claimed their third title.
