What Are the Chances of the Cincinnati Bengals Making the Super Bowl?

Can the Cincinnati Bengals make franchise history by reaching their second consecutive Super Bowl for the first time ever?

Last season saw them lose the Super Bowl game to the Los Angeles Rams after a 10-7 season but can they do it again this time around? If you want to bet on the Super Bowl in Ohio you should get to know what are the chances of one of the state’s teams.

A Look at Their Season So Far

The franchise’s 53rd season in the NFL started with high hopes, following last year’s performance and their first trip to the Super Bowl since 1988. Joe Burrow was expected to be a key figure again after he’d become the first second-year QB to reach a Super Bowl in almost a decade, but his burst appendix during preseason cut down his practice time and had fans worried.

Super Bowl LVI had ended the longest drought in any of the major American sports, as the Bengals won their first playoff game since 1990. Perhaps one of the possible negative effects of this was that they were no longer a surprise package and they were unlikely to be under-estimated by anyone.

The season started with their home venue being renamed as the Paycor Stadium. Fans were hopeful that an improved offensive line this season would make them even better than last year, and so far that’s been the case. Injuries have hit the Bengals but they’ve shown impressive strength in depth to cope with this.

What Are Their Chances of Making the Super Bowl?

At the time of writing, the Bengals are sitting on a 9-4 record following their recent win against the Cleveland Browns. With just four games left to play, their chances of reaching the playoffs are rated at over 98%, meaning that it would be a major surprise if they didn’t make it. In fact, they’re on track to beat last season’s 10-7 season.

Their chances of getting to the playoffs have been rising every week as they’ve gone on a five-game winning streak that has boosted their chances. They’re currently tied at the top of the AFC North, as the Baltimore Ravens have the same 9-4 record to date.

This winning streak has been helped by the fact that exciting wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has returned to the line-up.  Last season’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year could be the key to Cincinnati making it to the upcoming Super Bowl in the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Their odds of winning the Super Bowl are reasonable, with odds of about +1200 putting them behind the favorites like the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. Perhaps people think that getting to the big game twice in a row is too much to ask of them, but right now it’s looking possible.

Can They Win It?

The Bengals have a tough end to the regular season, but let’s assume that they get over the line and make it to the Super Bowl again, which seems reasonable right now. Can they go one better than last year and win Super Bowl LVII?

If Burrow and Chase can carry on performing well together then it’s entirely possible, as both have shown that they’re among the best young talents in the NFL and work extremely well together. The Cincinnati offensive line is getting stronger and this is one of the areas where they’ve shown most improvement from last season.

Their running game is also looking solid, with Joe Mixon leading the way, and they’ve already proved that there’s strength in depth among the receivers. Perhaps the biggest fear is that their secondary might not be up to the task, but only time will tell if that’s the case.

It’s certain to be an exciting end to the pro football season and this time no one will be surprised if the Cincinnati Bengals make it to the Super Bowl game again.
