Harley Quinn Season 4 Finally Gets a Release Date

Harley Quinn is coming back to the Max screen really soon. While the DC universe tries to find a new path that manages to connect film, television, video game, and animation projects, the popular animated series starring Kaley Cuoco stands out as one of the few survivors of the Warner Bros. Discovery crisis.

After three successful seasons, the villain/anti-heroine created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm returns with new adventures after starring in a Valentine’s Day special in February that delved into the love relationship between the main character and Poison Ivy, one of the main attractions of the show.

A few months ago, it had been confirmed that Harley Quinn would return with new episodes in the summer, and now there is finally an official date: July 27.

In the third installment finale, Harley joined the Bat-Family, which now has Batgirl as its main leader after Batman was surprisingly arrested for tax evasion. For her part, Ivy will also have her chance to shine in another team, the Legion of Doom, led by Lex Luthor.

Speaking with TVLine, showrunner Justin Halpern discussed what fans can expect from the new installment:

“Things are so binary in the superhero world. Like, there’s a bad guy, there’s a good guy, and the feeling you have to be one of those things. There’s also the idea of, ‘Who creates this sort of bureaucracy within superhero world?’ But with Batgirl, we thought there was a lot of stuff to mine in the sense that she is, like, Gen Z and looks at the world a certain way and Harley is like a millennial who looks at the world a certain way. And without getting into the archetypes where it’s just a very basic, ‘I’m a Millennial! You’re a Gen Z!,’ we liked the idea of [her and Batgirl] having to both work together. Also, the way they look at what’s good and bad, and the way that they talk to one another, felt really fun and interesting to us.”

Harley Quinn’s Future in the DCU

Despite having a new batch of episodes coming soon, the future of Harley Quinn’s animated series is in doubt, like the vast majority of projects not related to James Gunn’s new DCU that are still standing, such as Superman & Lois or Aquaman. and the Lost Kingdom.

But it’s not just Cuoco’s Harley that has an uncertain fate. Lady Gaga will make her debut as the character in Joker: Folie á Deux, the long-awaited sequel to the film starring Joaquin Phoenix that presented the origin story of the famous villain.

This second film, again directed by Todd Phillips, will also be an origin story for Harley, but it is uncertain if the singer will have the opportunity to reprise the role beyond that film.

On the other hand, the version of Margot Robbie, who was in charge of bringing Harley to the top of popularity, is the one that generates the most doubt. Although Gunn has expressed that he would like to work with the actress again, and included her in his kind of reboot of The Suicide Squad, her return is not guaranteed.
